Defining "retention"If a student leaves college on terms that the student considers to be successful, the college should also consider itself successful concerning that student. The focus is not on graduation rates, but on the attainment of educational goals/objectives. Why students leaveIt is almost a cliché that when students are asked why they voluntarily
withdrew from school, they will almost always cite the following at their top
three reasons: money, time, and personal reasons. However, research has
